Fremlin Walk Vinyls Project
Artist’s Brief
Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre is looking to create some visually striking vinyls for a set of windows in Havoc Square (opposite Maidstone Museum), and they are looking for a local artist to lead the project.
They would like to work with local school children to design the artworks, which will then need to be digitised and put into a suitable format for professional printing.
The selected artist will be expected to deliver two half day workshops at two local schools.
The first workshop will explore the theme of ‘The Battle of Maidstone’. Historical information will be provided to tell the story of the Battle, which the children will then use to create a visual representation of events (key locations, people, etc).
The second workshop will focus on the history of the Fremlin Brewery and the Royal Albion Public House. Again children will be asked to recreate the stories through pictures.
The selected artist will be responsible for incorporating the children’s artworks into a final draft design, for approval by Fremlin Walk.
All historical information will be supplied in advance, and assistance can be provided at the workshops if required.
If you would like to apply for this opportunity, please submit an expression of interest outlining your experience in delivering public art projects of this nature and your quote.
These should be sent to annmarielangley@maidstone.gov.uk no later than Friday 2nd December.
